Step counting mechanism:
The device is equipped with an accelerometer that detects data, which is then combined with algorithms and basic information about the human body. This data is ultimately converted into step counts, calorie consumption, and other related information.
The factors affecting step counting accuracy are as below:
1. The Xiaomi Watch/Xiaomi Smart Band estimates walking distance based on your height, gender, and weight settings, which it uses to calculate an average step length. This step length is then multiplied by the number of steps you take to estimate the total distance;
2. Individuals of the same height, gender, and weight will have different stride lengths, so the calculated distances will vary significantly;
3. The accuracy of step counting, that is, the number of steps taken, is influenced by many uncertain factors related to individual habits, such as the degree of arm swing and walking style. Additionally, the human body engages in various activities (e.g., walking, riding in a car, driving, bathing), and arm movements can be complex (e.g., typing on a keyboard, moving a mouse, lifting or pulling objects);
4. Due to these factors, the distance calculated by the watch or band is an estimate and should not be used as a precise measurement tool. The software algorithms will be continually optimized to provide more accurate data in the future.
Note:
The Mi Fitness APP supports data integration across multiple devices. Data from multiple devices under the same account (including phones connected to the band, phones logged into the same account, bands, and watches connected to the same account) will be combined. If multiple people use the same account, there will be an accumulation of daily data such as steps and calories. It is recommended that each Xiaomi Account is used by only one person to avoid excessive data accumulation.
