Why does the Xiaomi 14 exhibit edge distortion when taking close-up photos?
The effective focal length of the main rear camera of the Xiaomi 14 is 23mm, which falls within the wide-angle category in photography. Wide-angle lenses naturally exhibit a certain degree of perspective distortion. Additionally, the Xiaomi 14 is equipped with a large aperture of F1.6 and a 1/1.3" large sensor, which can lead to a decrease in edge quality when shooting at extremely close distances due to shallow depth of field. To mitigate these effects on image quality, we have incorporated features such as aspherical lenses and optical correction for aberrations in the lens design.
