Why is the PM2.5 detection of the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier inaccurate?
If your air purifier's readings are inaccurate, please refer to the following troubleshooting solutions:
1. The PM2.5 stays at a high level for a long time, and the purifier keeps running at a high speed, the purification ability will be poor;
2. If the PM2.5 level is high, set the mode of the purifier. Higher settings increase the fan speed, which enhances purification capacity;
3. If your room is large, it will take more time to purify the air. This can affect the PM2.5 reading;
4. Inspect the room's sealing. Continuous inflow of polluted air can affect the purifier's ability to achieve optimal purification. If the pollution entering the room exceeds the purifier’s CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate), the purifier will operate at high speed continuously;
5. Check for sources of pollution in the room (e.g., ultrasonic humidifiers, smoking, high dust levels, or shaking clothes). They will be detected by the laser sensor on the purifier;
6. PM2.5 particles are too small to be seen with the naked eye and can only be detected by sensors (such as laser or infrared). Fluctuations in the displayed PM2.5 levels can indicate that the sensor is detecting moving polluted air in the room. For example, by blowing a breath to the sensor, the air is invisible to your eyes, but it will stir the airflow. After the sensor detects the polluted particles in the flowing air, the reading will become higher (If the purifier is running in automatic mode, the fan speed will increase and the sound will become louder);
7. If the outdoor air is relatively good, the PM2.5 reading of the purifier is higher than that of the outdoor air;
8. If outdoor pollution is severe and the indoor PM2.5 reading is low and the dust indicator shows green, this suggests that your room is well-sealed. The device is normal in this case, so you can use the purifier with confidence;
9. It is recommended to replace the filter every 3-6 months. When it is detected that the filter needs to be replaced, the screen will show a prompt. Please replace the new filter in time.
