The function of Rich Communication Services (RCS) chats is a convenient chat feature, showing you when someone is typing, offering read receipts, sending messages over mobile data and Wi-Fi and letting you share files and high-resolution photos.
If you cannot turn on the RCS chats, please refer to the following details:
1. Please make sure that your device and carrier network support RCS;
2. Please make sure that Google Messages is your device’s default APP for SMS;
3. Please make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the internet and can receive SMS.
Note:
1. If you still can’t turn on RCS chats, clear the application storage for Carrier Services and Google Messages in the Settings APP. If you don’t have Carrier Services, you can clear the cache of Google Messages;
2. If you clear Google Messages, you won’t lose your messages, but you’ll lose your Google Message settings;
3. Until you get RCS back, some of your RCS messages will be marked as “MMS”, and you will have problems with RCS groups;
4. Unless someone else in the group chat can initiate a conversation, you will not immediately be able to use group chats after you turn RCS back on.
