The formation of limescale and cloudy water in the Xiaomi Electric Kettle 2 is due to the hardness of tap water, which contains minerals like calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. If limescale forms, you can use a limescale remover available at supermarkets or soak the kettle with a mixture of vinegar to dissolve the buildup.
To remove limescale without damaging the kettle, please follow these steps:
1. Pour the cleaning solution into the kettle until it's about halfway full and let it sit for about 60 minutes to loosen any mineral deposits or scale buildup;
2. After soaking, use a non-abrasive brush or sponge to gently scrub the interior of the kettle, focusing on areas with scale or residue buildup;
3. Fill the kettle with water up to the maximum water level, boil it, and then pour out the water. Repeat this process 4 to 5 times;
4. Wipe the surface of the kettle with a dry cloth, including the handle and base.
Note:
1. Ensure the kettle is unplugged and cooled down before cleaning. Regularly remove limescale and sediment inside the kettle to prolong its lifespan. Avoid submerging the kettle or its base in water;
2. To prevent limescale buildup, it is recommended to use purified water from a water purifier rather than regular tap water. Additionally, avoid boiling milk, soy milk, or tea in the kettle, as these substances can leave residues that contribute to the formation of scale.
