What is dishwasher salt?

Dishwasher salt, also known as ion exchange resin regenerating agent, mainly consists of sodium chloride and is in the form of pellets. As the volume of water processed increases, the resin becomes saturated with impurities, gradually losing its adsorption capacity and reaching a state of reduced effectiveness. To eliminate the impurities absorbed by the resin, sodium ions (the sodium component in dishwasher salt) are used during a backwash process to exchange and replace the impurities, thereby restoring the adsorption capacity of the ion exchange resin. Therefore, dishwasher salt must be used in conjunction with the water softener.
Note:
Adding dishwasher salt allows the water softener to be reused for softening water and improves cleaning performance.
