NFC, or Near Field Communication, is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, such as a smartphone and another device, to establish communication by bringing them within close proximity, within a few centimeters.
NFC is used in keycards and access badges for secure entry into buildings, hotel rooms, or restricted areas. Tapping the NFC-enabled card or device against a reader grants access. NFC tags can be embedded in posters, business cards, or other objects. When an NFC-enabled device is brought close to the tag, it can read the information stored on it. The card is powered by the radio frequency field of the contactless card reader, so it can work even if the host device (such as a mobile phone) is out of power.
NFC can also be used for data exchange, but the transmission distance is shorter (≤10cm) and the transmission creation speed is faster, but the transmission speed is slower than Bluetooth and infrared. The theoretical maximum transmission rate is 424kbps and the power consumption is low. Linking two devices with NFC function can realize point-to-point data transmission, such as downloading music, exchanging pictures or synchronizing device address books. Therefore, through NFC, multiple devices such as digital cameras, PDAs, computers and mobile phones can exchange data or services.
NFC can be used as a card reader to help you get information from the electrical tags on the poster or exhibition.
To launch the function of NFC, please refer to the following steps:
1. Tap [Settings];
2. Tap [More connectivity options];
3. Tap [NFC].
The functions and ways to use are listed below:
1. Swiping card: After turning on the NFC function, you need to add the corresponding card in the Wallet. When using it, aim the NFC area at the gate, or double-press the power button (default) to open the card selection interface, select the card to be used and tap it;
2. Reading card: Place the card at the NFC area.
Note:
The accomplishment of the NFC functions needs both the firmware support of the smartphone and the support of software and surrounding devices.
