Mi Home IOT devices (cameras, doorbells, lights, etc.) do not bind to the Mi Home App and there is a prompt for connection timeout
To connect your Xiaomi IOT devices to the Mi Home App, please refer to the following troubleshooting (please read the notes for all text):
1. Exit the Mi Home app, clear the background, re-enter the Mi Home app and try to reconnect;
2. Check if the Mi Home APP version and smartphone system version need to be updated;
3. Confirm that the phone is connected to Wi-Fi that can access the internet normally (all IOT devices don’t support connecting to networks that require secondary verification, such as CMCC and enterprise intranet);
4. Ensure that the Wi-Fi SSID and password are correct and don’t have special characters during the device connection process (SSID and password support combinations of English letters and numbers, but don’t support special characters);
5. Placing the device close to the router to reconnect. The router is too far away from the device which leads to a decrease in Wi-Fi signal;
6. Attempt to disable black and white list settings or MAC address filtering on the router;
7. If the device still cannot be bound, you can try changing to another phone and resetting the device to operate again;
8. Open your phone hotspot (ensuring sufficient mobile data and 4G or above signal), and connect the device to the hotspot to rule out whether it is a network issue;
9. If it is still ineffective, it is recommended to apply for after-sales inspection.
Note:
1. One of the reasons for the connection failure prompt when using an iOS device to connect to the camera is that when entering a password using the iOS built-in keyboard, there will be extra spaces at the end, resulting in an incorrect password. Please try again after deleting the extra space;
2. If you can't find a suitable Wi-Fi, please clear the device cache (not clear data), and then connect to the corresponding Wi-Fi with your phone to rebind the device (if the device only supports connecting to 2.4G Wi-Fi, please switch your phone to the same).
