Captures differently from inside out

From lens to sensor, the Mi 5 camera is filled with technology breakthroughs that will help you capture that perfect shot. Sapphire glass protects the lens against scratches and knocks. Mi 5 also has deep trench isolation (DTI) image enhancement, 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) and a flagship image processor. Each of these create stunning images with purer colors, sharper focus and clearer details.

OIS camera

4-axis OIS, can't shake it off!

The most exciting moments in life are never still. Shaky hands and blurry photos are a common challenge, but can be reduced with optical image stabilization (OIS). Most other smartphones today use 2-axis OIS is still far from solving this problem.

Mi 5 is equipped with 4-axis OIS technology. It detects vibrations from up to 8 directions through the gyroscope and accelerometer, and calibrates the micro-motor to adjust camera posture and movement. This breakthrough in technology produces clear, steady photos and videos across different modes - landscape, macro, and even 4K video.

Sapphire lens cover

Hard act to follow

The slightest scratch on the camera lens can affect the most beautiful photos. Mi 5 uses the toughest sapphire glass to protect the lens from scratches. It is also known to have excellent light transmission and exceptional hardness. It's an added assurance, so you can stash Mi 5 in your bag without worry, or go extreme with your photos.

Next-gen 16MP sensor

Every pixel, clear and true

Light leaks at the pixel-level in the camera sensor can cause color distortion. The top-end 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor uses deep trench isolation (DTI) technology to separate pixel walls. This results in cleaner colour separation for purer reds, greens and blues. So even when shooting a bright blue sky, you won't detect traces of red "hot spots" in your photo.

Low-light image enhancement

See the night, not the noise

The best cameras rise to the challenge at night. A truly great camera should be fine tuned and calibrated with a photographer's eye. This is how Mi 5 reduces noise in low light images. By taking multiple images and stitching them together, it brightens darker regions while retaining details in the shadows. Photos look sharp and stunning, even at night.

2-micron pixel front camera

Supersized pixels for selfies

More pixels or better pixels, which would you pick? Megapixels might increase image resolution, but a large pixel sensor dramatically improves photo quality. With a 4MP 2-micron pixel front camera, selfies look phenomenal on Mi 5. Larger pixels capture more light, making complexions bright and details pop. It still delivers a massive 2688 x 1512 resolution, so you can print up to 20" photos.
