What is VPN?

VPN is the term "Virtual Private Network", which refers to a virtual private line within a company.
A special encrypted communication protocol establishes a private line of communication between two or more corporate intranets in different locations connected to the Internet. It is like setting up a private line, but without the need to lay physical lines such as fibre optic cables. The core of a VPN is the creation of a virtual private network using a public network. A virtual private network (VPN) is defined as a temporary, secure connection over a public network (usually the Internet), a secure, stable tunnel through a chaotic public network. A VPN is an extension to a corporate intranet. It enables remote users, company branches, business partners and suppliers to establish a trusted and secure connection to the company's intranet and to ensure the secure transmission of data. VPNs can be used for global Internet access for the growing number of mobile users for secure connectivity, virtual private lines for secure communication between corporate websites, and secure extranet VPNs for cost effective connectivity to business partners and users.
There are three VPN options: Remote Access VPN, Intranet VPN and Extranet VPN. These three types of VPN correspond to the traditional remote access network, the internal Intranet and the Extranet (external extension) formed by the corporate network and the associated partner's corporate network.

What are VPNs used for?
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is defined as a temporary, secure connection over a public network (usually the Internet), a secure, stable tunnel through a confusing public network. A Virtual Private Network is an extension to an enterprise intranet.
It helps remote users, company branches, business partners and suppliers to establish a trusted and secure connection to the company's intranet and to ensure the secure transmission of data. By transferring data flows to a low-cost network, an enterprise VPN solution will significantly reduce the costs that users spend on metro and remote network connections. At the same time, this will simplify the design and management of the network and speed up the connection of new users and websites. In addition, a Virtual Private Network will protect existing network investments. As users' business services continue to evolve, a VPN solution for the enterprise allows users to focus on their business rather than the network. Virtual Private Networks can be used for global Internet access for the growing number of mobile users for secure connectivity; Virtual Private Lines that enable secure communications between corporate sites, and Secure Extranet Virtual Private Networks for cost effective connectivity to business partners and users.
Many organisations are currently faced with the challenge of branch offices, distributors, partners, customers and field travellers requiring ready access to company resources via the public network, including: internal company information, office OA, ERP systems, CRM systems, project management systems, etc.
