What is Always On Display (AOD)? Which phones are supported?

Pixels that emit light on AMOLED screens consume power, and pixels that do not emit light have no power consumption.
Upon this, a mobile phone with an AMOLED screen displays time, date and other information on a pure black background after the screen is locked, and only consumes very low power. This function is called "on-screen display", or AOD (Always On Display).
The off-screen display function is off by default and can be turned on at any time.
Simply put, AOD on-screen display is a function that can display the time, date and related information on the screen even after the phone is locked and the screen is turned off, making it easy to check the time. This function requires the joint support of mobile phone hardware and software, which greatly facilitates the use and only has a small impact on the battery life of the mobile phone.

Tip:
In order to consider the comprehensive battery life experience, some models will reduce the brightness of the screen display.
In order to further optimize to reduce possible "image persistence" or "burn-in" effects, the screen displayed on the screen will move up and down slightly every minute, and the brightness will also change with the intensity of the ambient light.
At the same time, in order to adapt to the use status of different environments and to further improve the battery life, if the screen-off display function of Xiaomi mobile phones detects that the distance sensor is blocked, the screen-off display will be temporarily turned off to further save power;
In low ambient brightness, the off-screen display will display content at a minimum brightness of 5nit, while under normal lighting conditions, the off-screen display will display content at a maximum brightness of 60nit. At the same time, the screen refresh rate in the off-screen display state will also drop to 30Hz.
If you want to further control the power usage of the off-screen display, you can turn on the function through Settings>>Display>>Schedule Dark mode, and set the time range of the turn-on, so that the Schedule Dark mode can be automatically turned off during night breaks to further save power.
