TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. ORGANIZATION AND ORGANISERS
1.1. The following terms and conditions (hereinafter, the “Terms” or “Rules”) regulate the rules for participating in the “Xiaomi x HIPA Photography Competition GCC” (hereinafter, the “Activity”).
1.2. The Activity is organised by:
Xiaomi Technology L.L.C. (the “Promoter”). ID Registration Number: 1478465. Address: Office No. HC-8, The One Tower, Al Thanyah First, Dubai, United Arab Emirates;
And,
Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award ("HIPA"). Address: Dubai-Al Ain Road, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, P.O. Box 506660, Dubai, United Arab Emirates;
(together referred to as the “Organisers”).
1.3. Participation in the Activity is voluntary and free of charge, except for internet costs or any other connection costs.
1.4. For any questions regarding the Activity, Participants may contact the Organisers at Xiaomi (hereinafter, the “Activity Contact”).
2. ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACTIVITY’S RULES
2.1. By participating in the Activity, the Participant hereby accepts: (i) these Terms; and (ii) Xiaomi’s Terms of Use available at mi.com/ae-en and mi.com/ae-ar and Xiaomi’s Privacy Policy available at https://privacy.mi.com/all/languages/.
3. PLATFORM
3.1. This Activity is primarily an online event accessible through HIPA’s designated submission portal, Instagram, mi.com/ae-en, mi.com/ae-ar and the Mi Store App.
4. GENERAL TERMS
4.1. Participants must submit an original photograph captured using a mobile phone of any brand.
4.2. Participation is open to all residents and citizens of the GCC, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
4.3. Participants must be at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entering the competition.
4.4. Entries must be submitted through HIPA’s designated submission portal and posted on a public Instagram account mentioning @xiaomi.gcc and @hipaae.
4.5. Posts must include the following hashtags:
#GulfUnposed_SmallWorlds
#Xiaomi_HIPA
4.6. Each participant may submit one (1) entry only. Additional submissions may result in disqualification.
4.7. Participants must own all rights to the submitted photograph.
4.8. If a winner declines the stay at Atlantis The Royal, the Organisers reserve the right to replace the prize with an equivalent hotel stay in the winner’s country of residence, including double occupancy and breakfast for two.
4.9. Submissions close on Sunday, 21 June 2026 at 11:59 PM (GST / UTC +4). Submissions submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
5. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY
5.1. To participate in the Activity, the Participant must:
(a) be of legal age and possess legal capacity according to the laws applicable in their place of residence; and
(b) meet any additional eligibility requirements under the Participant’s place of residence.
(hereinafter the “Participant(s)” or “You”).
5.2. The Participant must provide accurate and complete information when registering or participating in the Activity. The Organisers reserve the right to reject or disqualify any Participant who provides inaccurate or erroneous information without prior notice or explanation.
5.3. The Organisers do not provide insurance for illness, accident, injury, death, or any loss or damage that may occur in connection with participation in the Activity. The Participant is responsible for obtaining any necessary insurance coverage.
5.4. Upon request, the Participant must be able to demonstrate, within a reasonable period, that they meet the eligibility criteria specified in these Terms.
5.5. Employees of the Organisers, their affiliates, or any company involved in organising or managing the Activity, as well as their family members up to the second degree, are not eligible to participate.
6. TERM
6.1. The Activity will take place during the following period (hereinafter, the “Activity Period”):
Start: 8th June 2026 at 11:00 (UTC +4)
End: 21th July 2026 at 23:59 (UTC +4)
6.2. Participation is only valid within the Activity Period and through the submission channels specified in these Terms. Any attempt to participate before or after the Activity Period will be considered invalid.
7. PERSONAL DATA
7.1. Participants in the Activity agree to provide the Organisers with the personal data required for the administration of the Activity, including name, contact details, social media account information, submitted content and any other information reasonably required for participation.
7.2. These data shall be collected and processed by the Organisers to ensure the proper organisation and management of the Activity.
7.3. The Organisers and their affiliated partners respect Participants’ privacy and undertake to protect it in accordance with their respective privacy policies and the applicable laws.
7.4. Personal data will be kept for the time necessary to guarantee the Participants with the exercise of their rights and actions in relation to the Activity.
7.5. By entering the Activity, Participants hereby consent that the above personal data may be collected by Xiaomi. Xiaomi will collect, use, disclose, process and protect personal information according to its privacy policy, available at https://www.mi.com/ae-en/support/policy/privacy and https://www.mi.com/ae-ar/support/policy/privacy.
7.6. If Participants have any concerns about Xiaomi’s data management practices outlined in its Privacy Policy, they may contact Xiaomi through https://privacy.mi.com/support/?locale=en or https://privacy.mi.com/support/?locale=ar.
8. COMPLAINTS
8.1. All complaints related to the Activity can be submitted through https://hipa.ae/insta_registration_form/165ef5f4-b206-422a-9160-696e6ba96378
8.2. The complaint will be considered within fourteen (14) days from the date of its receipt, based on the applicable laws and these Terms. However, the deadline may be extended in the event of reasons beyond the Organisers’ control, about which the Participant will be informed.
9. LIABILITY AND REPRESENTATION
9.1. ORGANISERS’ REPRESENTATION
Unless otherwise expressly stated in these Terms, the Organisers and their affiliated or third-party partners provide the Activity on a best-effort basis only and exclude all warranties and conditions of any kind, whether express or implied. In particular, but without limitation, the Organisers and their affiliated or third-party partners do not warrant or represent that:
(i) the Activity is fit for any purpose or meets Participant requirements, or is provided without any errors or deficiencies, or that the Activity complies with any quality levels, as the case may be;
(ii) the Activity is available to the Participant at any time and provided without disruption, interruption or delay;
(iii) any information, whether oral or written, obtained by the Participant from the Organisers or as a result of the Participant taking part in the Activity, including any materials or products, will be suitable, accurate, complete, or reliable; and
(iv) any deficiencies in the Activity, including any defects in performance, operation or functionality of the Activity, will be fixed, corrected or otherwise remedied.
9.2. ORGANISERS’ LIABILITY
The Organisers are not liable to the Participant, regardless of the legal grounds, whether in contract, tort, including negligence, or any theory of liability, in or out of connection with participation in the Activity for:
(i) any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages;
(ii) any loss of income, business, actual or anticipated profits, opportunity, goodwill or reputation, whether direct or indirect;
(iii) any damage to and/or corruption or loss of data, whether direct or indirect;
(iv) any changes, modifications, extensions or limitations, including any suspension of the Participant, in the Activity; or
(v) access to the Participant’s account and account data or Participant registration data taking part in the Activity, or any permanent or temporary cessation in the terms or conditions of the Activity, or any part of them.
In the event that the Organisers are liable for a breach of these Terms, the Organisers’ liability shall be limited to damages which the Organisers must typically expect at the time of the conclusion of these Terms due to the circumstances known at the time.
Notwithstanding the above, such damages shall not be higher than EUR 100 or the equivalent amount in local currency.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit the Organisers’:
(a) liability for death, personal injury or fraud or in accordance with any product liability act; and
(b) warranty or liability for damages or losses which may not be lawfully excluded or limited by applicable law.
If the laws in the Participant’s jurisdiction do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, terms or conditions or the limitation or exclusion of liability for loss or damage caused by negligence, breach of contract or breach of implied terms, or incidental or consequential damages, only the limitations which are lawful in that jurisdiction will apply to the Participant, and the Organisers’ liability and warranty will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
9.3. PARTICIPANT’S LIABILITY
The Participant is entirely responsible for any breach of the obligations under:
(i) these Terms; and
(ii) any applicable law or regulation in the relevant jurisdictions, including the jurisdiction where the Participant is a resident or from where the Participant is participating in the Activity;
and for the consequences of any such breach, including any loss or damage which the Organisers or any third party may incur or suffer. The Organisers will have no responsibility to the Participant or to any third party in respect of such breach.
10. EXPORT CONTROL
10.1. Upon participating in the Activity, the Participant understands and agrees that the Activity and the functions, services and goods provided through the Activity are subject to the export controls and economic sanctions laws of multiple jurisdictions containing restrictions on destination, end user and end use, including but not limited to:
(i) not using any functions, services or goods for any activities related to military end uses, support of terrorism, nuclear facilities, chemical or biological weapons, missiles, weapons of mass destruction, or similar restricted purposes; and
(ii) complying with all export, re-export and resale restrictions applicable to the goods.
10.2. If the Participant’s use of the functions and services provided through the Activity violates, or in the Organisers’ reasonable opinion may violate, the requirements and restrictions of relevant laws, resulting in a compliance risk or adverse impact on the Activity, functions, services or supply of goods, the Organisers reserve the right to suspend, restrict or terminate the provision of all or part of the goods and services.
11. OTHERS
11.1. These Terms shall be interpreted and applied in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates. However, this shall not exclude the application of any mandatory laws applicable in the Participant’s place of residence where required by law.
11.2. The Organisers may amend these Terms for important reasons. Important reasons include, in particular:
(i) a change in generally applicable legal provisions or their interpretation by authorised bodies, having a direct impact on the content of the Terms and necessitating their adaptation to such change in legal provisions or their interpretation;
(ii) the issuance of a judgment, decision, or other similar act by a court or authorised public authority, having a direct impact on the content of the Terms and necessitating their amendment in order to adapt to such judgment, decision, or other similar act;
(iii) preventing violations of the Terms or counteracting abuse, as well as removing ambiguities or interpretative doubts regarding the content of the Terms; and
(iv) changes in the names, addresses, or company details indicated in the Terms.
The Organisers will inform Participants of any amendments to these Terms no later than one (1) day before the proposed effective date of the amendments to the Terms.
11.3. If applicable law, a ruling, or other similar act of an authorised public authority requires the Organisers to amend the Terms within a shorter period, the notification of the amendment to the Terms will indicate such shorter period, along with an indication of the reason.
11.4. The amended Terms apply to Participants who do not withdraw from participation in the Activity before the effective date of the amendment to the Terms.
11.5. The Organisers will inform Participants of the amendment to the Terms by posting information about the amendment on the Activity website or other relevant Activity communication channel.
11.6. Amendments to the Terms may not negatively impact the terms of participation in the Activity. Amendments to the Terms do not affect the rights acquired by the Participant prior to the amendment to the Terms.
11.7. The Organisers reserve the right to terminate the Activity before its expiry date in the event of extraordinary external circumstances related to the safety of those participating in the Activity, or for other important reasons.
11.8. This version of the Terms is effective from 8th June 2026.
11.9. In matters not regulated by these Terms, generally applicable law shall apply.
