4-axis OIS, can't shake it off!

The most exciting moments in life are never still. Shaky hands and blurry photos are a common challenge, but can be reduced with optical image stabilization (OIS). Most other smartphones today use 2-axis OIS is still far from solving this problem.

Mi 5 is equipped with 4-axis OIS technology. It detects vibrations from up to 8 directions through the gyroscope and accelerometer, and calibrates the micro-motor to adjust camera posture and movement. This breakthrough in technology produces clear, steady photos and videos across different modes - landscape, macro, and even 4K video.

Light leaks at the pixel-level in the camera sensor can cause color distortion. The top-end 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor uses deep trench isolation (DTI) technology to separate pixel walls. This results in cleaner colour separation for purer reds, greens and blues. So even when shooting a bright blue sky, you won't detect traces of red "hot spots" in your photo.

Low-light image enhancement
