Objects weighing >5kg can be placed directly on the scale.
*180-day battery life: Battery life data comes from Yunmai Laboratory and may vary due to differences in specific products, habits of use, and environments during actual use. Testing conditions for this product: The scale, powered by 3 AAA batteries, in a at 25°C environment, was used to take weight measurements 3 times per day for approximately 45 seconds each time. The longest battery life observed was 180 days.
*Encouragement for achieving key benchmarks: 'Achieving key benchmarks' means that the measured weight, body fat, and heart rate are within the standard range and a '√' is displayed beside the numerical value. If the values are not within the standard range, they will not be displayed. The body weight benchmark is determined by the BMI calculation and the body fat benchmark is determined by algorithm calculation. A 60–100bpm range is considered normal for heart rate. To determine appropriate body weight and body fat benchmarks, the scale will identify a unique user before calculating and defining the standard range.

· Correct measurement method: It is recommended that the user wear light clothing and perform measurements at the same time and under the same conditions every day. Measurements should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach to obtain more accurate data. Behaviours such as drinking a large amount of water, eating, engaging in intense physical exercise, and taking a shower can affect the measurement results. It is recommended that the user follow the product instructions to ensure proper measurements, as doing so can improve the accuracy of the measurement results.
· This product is not recommended for use by individuals with implanted medical devices (such as pacemakers and cochlear implants). The electrical current used in this product does not cause injury to the human body, but pregnant women should use it with caution. If the user is in a state of discomfort and experiencing symptoms such as fever, cold, gastroenteritis, etc., significant errors may occur when body composition indicators are measured. Q&A
What does it mean when I see the prompt 'Bluetooth® gateway not connected'?
1. The Bluetooth® gateway is mainly used to synchronise measurement data when the scale is not connected to the app. When Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app displays the prompt, 'Bluetooth® gateway not connected', it does not mean that the scale is not working, but rather that the scale is not connected to the Bluetooth® gateway device.
2. This function requires a Bluetooth® gateway device at home. If you don't have one, disregard it.
3. After the scale is paired for the first time, please wait for 1–5 minutes for the scale to automatically connect with the gateway. If the connection fails after 5 minutes, please try to reboot the Bluetooth® gateway.
What is a Bluetooth® gateway and what devices are considered gateways?
A Bluetooth® gateway device combines both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It can connect to the Internet on its own and assist Bluetooth® gateway sub-devices in accessing the Internet.
What should I do if I can't search for the scale when I try to add it in Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app?
Please first delete the scale in Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, and follow the instructions below:
1. Open the battery cover and press the Reset button with an ejection pin for 7 seconds to reset it. Then pair it using Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app. Please note that the scale is not compatible with Mi Fitness app.
2. Please make sure that your smartphone's operating system has been updated to Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and later.
3. Please make sure that Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app is updated to iOS 8.7.204 or Android 8.7.703 and later. If you are running an older version, please upgrade or reinstall the app.
How do I connect the scale to Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app?
Follow the steps below to connect for the first time:
1. Gently step on the scale to activate it.
2. Open Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, tap the '+' icon in the top right corner, select 'Add a device', and choose 'Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400' from the device list. Wait for the app to find the scale.
3. Select the device you want to connect to, click 'Connect device', and wait for the connection to be completed. If the pairing fails or the device is not found, please press and hold the Reset button with an ejection pin for 7 seconds to reset the scale and try again.
How do I add Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 to Mi Fitness app? Is the scale compatible with third-party apps?
Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 can only be paired and connected with Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app and is not compatible with Mi Fitness app or any other app.
What should I do if I consistently fail to obtain a measurement result for body fat?
1. Please wipe the soles of your feet and the scale surface with a moist towel and try again.
2. If the problem persists, please connect the scale with Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app and measure it online. Select the member you want to measure in the upper left corner of the 'Device' page in Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, tap 'Measure', and step on the scale while barefoot as instructed. Make sure both feet are in full contact with the electrode pad to complete a measurement.
What should I do if my family members can't obtain a measurement result for body fat?
1. All users need to first create an account and fill in their information in Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app before measuring their body fat.
2. Currently, the scale can only measure users within a weight range of 20–150kg, a height range of 90–220cm, and an age range of 6–80 years old.
3. Please check if there are weight deviations within ±2kg for the main account, a shared account, or any member account. If so, offline body fat measurement is not supported, and only online measurements can be used.
4. Please make sure that both feet are in proper contact with the electrode pad. It is recommended to wipe the soles of your feet and the scale surface with a moist towel before trying again.
